What is #aus.gather? How do I get to it?
#aus.gather is an IRC channel on the IRC network Quakenet. To get to it, you will need an IRC client.
If you are unsure of how to get on the channel, follow these steps.
- Go to http://www.mirc.com/, download and install mIRC.
- Run mIRC. When you first run, a window saying that the client will expire in 30 days will appear; just ignore it. Another window will appear, in which you enter in credentials. For the fields "Full name" and "Email Address", you can put fake details.
- Once done, click on "Servers" under the "Connect" tree. Select Quakenet as the IRC Network, and a random UK/US server for the IRC Server.
- When "mIRC Favorites!" pops up, tick off "Pop up favorites on connect" and close the window.
- Once connected to the server, type "/join #aus.gather", and you're now connected to the #aus.gather channel!
How do I register with the stats?
If the bot 'decaff' is running in #aus.gather...
- Make sure you are authed
- Type !reg to add your auth to the stats database, then...
- Type !nick <ingame nick> to associate a nickname with your auth to use the nickname update method, OR
- Type !pass to create a password to login to the site to use the IP update method
You do not need to use both the nickname update method and the IP update method, although the option to use both is available. If you do not change your nickname often, use the nickname method, but in all other situations, the IP update method is advised.
What do I use as my !nick?
Whatever you use to play Soldat. If your name is "-[N/A]- SpiltCoffee |T|", you use "!nick -[N/A]- SpiltCoffee |T|".
How do I login to ausgather.net?
After using !pass to generate a password for your auth, you use your auth as your username and the password just given to you by decaff to login. You can change your password on the profile page.
What happens if someone uses my nick and screws up my stats?
Tell us as soon as possible if a user has impersonated you, or tries to impersonate you. Using someone else's ingame nickname will not be tolerated, and any users found to be doing this will receive a lengthy ban.
What is the purpose of the #aus.gather client?

Is my version of Windows supported?
Soldat should run on machines as old as 98. However, to use the #aus.gather client, you need to have the latest .NET framework on your computer (shouldn't be a problem for XP users and higher who download updates for their version of Windows).
I'm behind a firewall and I can't use the #aus.gather client, what can I do?
Besides attempting to put the client on the exceptions list of your firewall, you can instead just login to the website to update your IP if you are using the IP update method.
How do I attach the #aus.gather sig image to my forum signature?
Copy the Forum Code under the image of your choice, and put it into your signature.
But how do I find the sig link in the first place?!
Login to the site, and then look on the right hand side, for the link "#aus.gather sigs". At the moment, there is only one image, but there should be another, userbar sized one soon!
